Just this week the FDA has sent mixed messages about the future of improved access to the morning-after pill.
On Monday, July 31, the FDA announced that it will reconsider whether to allow the morning-after pill to be sold without a prescription. However, the following day the FDA's acting commissioner refused to say when the agency would make a decision.
According to news reports, the FDA reconsidered its position in response to more than 40,000 complaints from the public in the past year.
