HB 2428 - Emergency Contraception and Access/Availability

This bill’s purpose was to make emergency contraceptive available in the emergency room, and to require pharmacies to carry and have staff on duty to the fill prescriptions. Making the public aware of accessibility to emergency contraception was also part of the bill.

SB 169 - Limits Scope of Practice for Nurse Practitioners in Non-Surgical Abortions

This new law prohibits the Arizona Board of Nursing from determining if abortion care is within the scope of practice for Nurse Practitioners.

SB 1250 - Removes Privacy for Donors Resulting in Conceived Children

Requires health facilities that receive donated human eggs or sperm for the purpose of infertility treatment to compile and retain records on donors and to furthermore provide the records to the prospective parents of a donor conceived child.

SB 1390 - 30mile of Hospital Privileges for Doctors Providing Abortions

Establishes penalties for a physician who performs or induces an abortion and who does not have clinical privileges at a hospital that offers obstetrical or gynecological care within 30 miles of the location where the abortion is conducted.

HB 2384 - Working Poor Tax Credit Exclusion for Organizations that Refer or Provide Abortion

This legislation excludes organizations that provide abortion care or referrals for abortion care from eligibility for the Working Poor Tax Credit. Charitable organizations that provide services to the working poor will be unable to claim this tax credit if they also provide, promote, pay for, provide coverage of, or provide referrals for abortion care. It also prohibits public funding for abortion care training.

HB2416 - Abortion-Pill Redefined as Surgical Abortion, Telemedicine Prohibition and Additional "Informed Consent” Requirements

Abortion by pill or "medical abortion,” is reclassified and defined as "surgical abortion;” medical professionals are prevented from using telemedicine to provide the abortion pill; and expansion of "informed consent” requires providers to perform an ultrasound and heartbeat monitoring at least one hour before the procedure and for patients to sign an affidavit stating they were given the chance to see/hear it in addition to reporting whether they did.

HB 2443 - Race and Sex Selection Prohibition for Access to Abortion

Under the auspices of preventing abortions based on the fetus’ sex and/or race, this law only creates new restrictions and pitfalls for physicians who provide abortion care to women. This legislation acts only as a deterrent for at risk minority women to seek the medical care they require.

HCR 2443 / SCR 1017 - Pregnancy Care Centers

Expresses the Legislature’s support for pregnancy care centers (PPCs) and their contribution to society by declaring the Legislature’s support for pregnancy care centers (FAKE CLINCS), the volunteers and paid staff at PCCs and conveys their disapproval of any actions by national, state or local groups that attempt to prevent pregnancy care centers from effectively serving women and men facing unplanned pregnancies and disapproval of the actions of any national, state or local group attempting to prevent pregnancy care centers from effectively serving women and men facing unplanned pregnancy.
