The Most Commonly Asked Question
How do NARAL Pro-Choice Arizona and Planned Parenthood of Arizona differ?
Our organizations are strong partners often working in collaboration on behalf of women, teens, and families in Arizona. NARAL Pro-Choice Arizona is often thought of as the political arm of the women's movement, as we use the political process to protect a woman’s right to make personal decisions regarding reproductive choices, while Planned Parenthood is a provider of health education and services, with a separate political action fund that addresses political issues. Although both of our organizations were formed to support women’s rights and women’s reproductive health, NARAL Pro-Choice Arizona’s sole purpose is to protect these rights through local, state and national political and legislative processes.
Our brief history. We're new, and growing in leaps and bounds!
On April 25, 2004 a group of Arizona citizens joined over one million people in Washington, D.C. at the historic "March for Women's Lives.” The goal was to send a message to our public officials that the fundamental right of reproductive freedom shall not be taken away.
When the Arizona group returned from the march, energized by their experience, many understood that more action was needed on a statewide level to protect reproductive rights.
What resulted is the newest affiliate of NARAL Pro-Choice America, NARAL PRO-CHOICE ARIZONA.
We welcome you to join our efforts to make Arizona a state where women of all ages have the freedom to control their own reproductive health!
